CUMULATIVE SAVINGS

Using Data to Identify Optimal Energy Projects

The Netcare Sustainability Programme, led by Energy Partners, was implemented in 2013 and is on track to achieve a 33% reduction in energy consumption by 2021. Initially focused on energy (the highest cost area), EP has performed energy audits, diagnostic, data analysis, energy efficiency initiatives identification and implementation. In time, the scope has grown to include water, waste and other carbon emission contributors, as well as accommodate to changes in operations, technologies used, physical expansions and continue pursuing utilities cost reduction targets. The programme has seen R220m cumulative savings via energy efficiency projects including operational/behavioural, supply optimisation, national lighting roll-out, voltage optimisation, refrigeration, HVAC and solar PV. Additional benefits to date include 26% energy intensity reduction, R11m annual savings via billing claim and tariff switches implemented and R30m annual bill recovery via tenant billing for 204 national and individual tenants.
